Ash Extraction Forceps Questions
The Ash Forceps are specifically designed for lower anterior teeth: including mandibular incisors, canines, and premolars — as well as pediatric. Its thin beak profile and lightweight design make it ideal for any case where a standard lower extraction forcep is too bulky or too wide to engage the tooth cleanly at the CEJ.
Standard lower extraction forceps like the #151 are designed as a general-purpose instrument. They work across a wide range of teeth but aren't optimized for small lower anteriors or pediatric cases. The Ash Forceps are purpose-built for these situations: the thinner, narrower beaks fit tighter spaces sub-gingivally, and the highly serrated tip provides a non-slip grip on small, tapered roots where a standard forcep beak would struggle to get adequate purchase. Additionally, the "Ash oriented" handles allow easier and more comfortable rotational force.

I just did 2 lower mesially impacted 3rd molars and it was surprisingly easy and efficient. The flame diamond helped create a purchase point and before I knew it, the teeth were ready for removal. The conical/tapered root anatomy helped too.
