The Stieglitz Forceps are specifically designed for the removal of retained roots and broken root fragments in both upper and lower. Its long, thin, serrated beaks are engineered to slip into a notch or trough created around the root remnant — providing a secure, non-slip grip for controlled precision.
For best results, use The Flame™ Diamond Bur to create a narrow notch or trough around the retained root fragment. This gives the Stieglitz beaks a defined point of engagement. Once the purchase point is established, slide the thin serrated beaks into the trough, achieve a firm grip on the root fragment, and deliver with controlled rotational or luxating force. The serrated tips prevent slippage throughout the removal process.
